We spent the Queen's birthday long weekend camped along the Howqua river. We had fantastic weather and walked each day.
On the first day we did a short walk along the river from the campsite. We heard a screeching call coming from some steep cliffs but couldn't see anything. It was only after the birds flew off the cliff that we caught sight of them. Lucky for us they circled and re-perched on the rocky cliff. It was a pair of Peregrine Falcons.
Peregrines are the fastest members of the animal kingdom. They can reach speeds of over 300km/h when swooping on prey.
Although I have seen Peregrines in the wild before, this was the first time I'd captured them with my camera so it's another tick to the list!

The next day we hiked up Eagle peak. A pair of Wedge-tailed eagles circled us at the summit.

On our last day we summitted The Bluff. It was eerily quiet and we didn't see any birds until got back near the carpark.
